So I’m in the market for new fog lamps for Killer Queen . After each night shift, as we get closer to the Autumn season, the fog has been getting thicker on the commute home. So I want to get something that will cut through it.

I’m looking at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , which are rectangular, and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ‘s non-amber with yellow laminates and rock guard. One of the important things to keep in mind is that I need light fixtures that can be rotated 180 degrees so they don’t blind the everloving hell out of oncoming traffic since I’m going to have to bolt them upside down to the push bars.

A photoshop mockup showing both lights. Which one would be preferable?

Kinja'd!!!

If anyone has experience with fog lamps, I’m open to suggestions, though I’d like ones that also look good.

I acknowledge they may be out of budget but these things are the shizzle. https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/S2-Sport-Pair-Wide-Cornering-LED-Amber.asp

Tiny. Unobtrusive. Effective. But $220...

Out of the two ‘chopped on, I think the rectangular ones fit the Interceptor motif better.

N either will really cut through the fog though . They will however be less likely to reflect back at you and blind you like the white(er) and higher aimed headlights tend to .

Mmph, but I’d like to have lights that can help improve the look of the car, rather than being low profile. Those look interesting, but say nothing about being able to be mounted upside down. That is kind of the most important detail here.

All led lights of this type can be mounted upside down.

As for the look of them... that’s why we have personal preferences - this company does some big round led fogs but the coin gets scary...

The LED lights aren’t the issue, the issue is the reflectors themselves. The Hellas I indicated an interest in have very specific light spreads, so mounting them upside down by default would result in the light beam shining upwards into the sky (and subsequently blind other drivers).

That’s why I’m very particular about the reflectors in the light housings, as well. They need to be rotatable by 180 degrees.

You already drive a P71; just fully embrace the douche lifestyle and get an LED light bar and mount it inside the push bar.

That was one of the suggestions of a group on Facebook. I am not going near LED light bars, thank you very fucking much. I’d rather try to save the reputation of the Crown Vic and rebrand it as a classy car, than a trashy one.

I wish you all the luck. I would go with the round hellas, but not tinted.

Ambers are better for dealing with dense fog, though. They don’t splash back as much (reducing risk of blinding yourself).

Yeah, because the market for Dodge Monacos and Diplomats is  super strong.

The shop I was visiting for my new replacement pushbars had a Dodge Diplomat PV in the lobby. It was sweet. I’ll be posting the pictures to Oppo later.

Normally I’m all for big round fog lights, but for the “ commissioner’s car” look you’re going for I’d go with the smaller rectangle yellows, with chrome bezels if you can.

That doesn’t mean the market is strong.

Thinking that may be my final choice, yeah. The main question is whether the reflector housings in the Hella 550's can be rotated 180 degrees to account for the upside-down mounting...can you track down any information about that? I’m getting nothing on my end.

I believe he two screws on the sides hold the lense in. So you should just be able to flip the lense and be good to go

The other option would be to make a bracket that  drops down under the light so it can still be mounted right side up, but also be tucked up close tot he under side of the push bar.

Alright, here’s hoping. What’s your opinion on the light quality of Hella, though?

I have no personal experience with them but I’ve always heard they’re a good product. And the 555s have a plastic housings so you don’t have to worry about them rusting out. So that’s nice

All Hellas can be mounted up or down without changing the throw. If you look at the isographs you can see they are the same side to side. Mounting them upside down doesn’t change the throw. The tilt angle is in the mount- same as side to side.

I had some round Hellas on my Wrangler. Can’t remember the model. They were driving lights. Worked pretty good. Thrashed the Jeep off-road through mud, sand and snow and they always worked. Fully submerged them while on and off and they still worked.
